These are just a few of the crime related headlines made in the UK in the past week or so. I don’t really need to say much to convince people that the crime problem in Britain is getting out of hand. However, I do find it odd that despite the increasing failures in dealing with crime, Britons seem to be amongst the first to criticise the punishments and rulings in Islam.
I have already posted an article on the punishment system in Islam (see link below) so don’t feel the need to repeat myself. Except point out that it’s about time people started thinking about the kind of society they want to live in and explore options by thinking outside the box. Islam does have a harsh punishment system, but it is effective. Whilst, I don’t mean to suggest that the UK should adopt the punishment system of Islam as it wouldn’t work without applying Islam comprehensively, I would like to see people recognising their own failures before dismissing the Islamic punishments as backward.

2. Non-Muslims are not treated equally in Islam as they are not allowed to take up positions of ruling and therefore subjected to mistreatment.
This is often a passionately contested argument by non-Muslims nowadays, as they see this as a form of discrimination. I don’t think we’ve had an honest debate about this and the energy channelled in criticising this tenet is possibly hypocritical. Read More…
